Fish up the wazoo

March 5, 2012

We left Big Sand Cay with glum faces. Then my Mom spots a whale that lifted my spirits enough that I put my fishing rods out. In about one hour, we see lots of birds and splashes. I was getting really excited by now. Then I see this fish jump out of the water. It was a yellowfin tuna. After I saw the tuna I said to my dad its a school of tuna. Then my yoyo went off so I grab it and started pulling it in. I was super excited because I hadn't caught a fish for awhile.

I'm reeling it in and I see the tuna and it is surfing a wave and he gets off. When he got off I wanted to scream so I kind of did. But no matter, in two hours, one of my rods go off and then the other. We all know immediately that they were mahi mahi because one of them jumped five times fully out of the water. One of the mahi mahi turned a magnificent blue and the other one was a really pretty green. We kept the green one becasue the blue one was too big.

I was fine with that.

Big Sand Cay

March 4, 2012

Big Sand Cay is one of our favorite places. 86 miles north of Puerto Plata. It is the most southwest island in the Turks and Caicos. It has a mini desert with 7 foot sand cliffs. They are super fun. Osa and me and my Dad made a road on a 80-90 degree sand cliff. We made it with a shovel that we found on the beach.

After we are done playing in the sand, we went in the water. There are some really good sized waves and the water was as clear as glass.

It is one of my favorite small islands.

What I like about fishing

March 1, 2012

Why do I love fishing?

Maybe it's because I get excited when the rod bends and makes a sound like this zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt! and I don't know what's at the end. Maybe here is another reason because all fish are pretty from clown fish to blue marlins and they are all so cool. Here is a picture of my favorite fish a mahi mahi:

I also like fishing because a lot of other people like fishing. I love fishing because all the lures are pretty and I also love collecting the lures. When I grow up I will buy some really good tackle.

Anyways, I really like fishing.

27 Waterfalls of Damajagua, Dom Rep

February 25, 2012

Yesterday, we went to the twenty seven waterfalls of Damajagua. It was really, really, REALLY, fun. At the twenty seventh waterfall we could not go down because it was at the top. After bout 13 waterfalls, I was swimming to shore and I see a dark thing. It was a fresh water shrimp. I caught it and let it go.

In about six more waterfalls, there was ahuge jump. I did not do it because it looked like 40 feet. Yikes! My dad jumped off the 5m cliff. After, we did a couple more waterfalls. I was amazed how nice the water felt. It was also stunning how the water carved this amazing canyon. There was a waterfall that I did not do but my sister did. She's a quite brave little girl. The second waterfall was cool because it was an over hang and you could go under it. I found half a coconut. I sent it down a waterfall and I never saw it again. There was a really cool, really big, and really long suspension bridge at the end of the waterfalls.

Then we went back to the car and had a great lunch. This is what we had for lunch: buns, salad, rice and beans and barbaqued chicken.
